For years, HUFF-WATCH has been documenting how HuffPost, under Arianna's direction, has been smearing and inciting hate against the U.S. military, Israel and Jews, the Tea Party and conservatives, based on false and inflammatory claims (which she falsely claimed are prohibited at HuffPost).

Now, Arianna has apparently decided to broaden the reach of the groups she insults, and her newest targets --- ironically, both stalwarts of leftist politics --- are fighting back:

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has called for an apology and retraction after the Huffington Post this week featured, on its home page, an article titled, “Sex For Tuition: Gay Students Using ‘Sugar Daddies’ To Pay Off Loan Debt.”

GLAAD called the post, authored by Amanda Fairbanks, “one of the most trite, stereotype-peddling articles we’ve seen in a long time” and denounced the Huffington Post for standing behind it.

Fairbanks and her interview subjects happily play into several alarming and potentially dangerous stereotypes about the LGBT community – completely unchallenged.

The author quotes someone as saying these gay students “used the money to afford the extravagant and often lavish gay lifestyle,” while another said, “In the gay scene, all you really have is your age or your money.”

Fairbanks herself writes, “Unlike in the straight world, many say they find working as an escort on the gay scene to be an accepted, even applauded practice.”

GLAAD said the article presents the “gay scene” as a single-minded monolith that supports prostitution, and perpetuates false stereotypes often use by the “staunchest opponents of equality.”

A few months ago, friends of some Georgia prisoners beat down after the 2010 inmate strike handed me a story on how prison guards and wardens were being investigated by other state agencies for the maltreatment of prisoners, and that the first of these had already been indicted, with more to come. For the protection of the prisoners they needed their story before the widest possible audience in a hurry.

I had a Huffington Post login so I wrote and posted it on a Sunday evening, hoping it would get through the editorial filters by some time Monday. It didn’t. Huffington Post editors finally told me on Thursday the story just wasn’t a “good fit” for them. Not surprising, from a strict marketing point of view. Black prisoners and their families and friends typically hail from the lowest income parts of our community, and what advertiser really wants to bother with that?

Whoever imagines the addition of a new “Black Voices” section would change that is not thinking clearly. Its executive editor is a former CEO of the Oprah Winfrey Network and an ex-president at MTV, and a BET co-founder holds the position of “strategic advisor.” These are people who’ve been filtering and limiting the black conversation on behalf of their corporate cronies for a generation now.

HUFF-WATCH documented HuffPost's racial bias more than a year ago. Glad to see that others are finally awakening to the reality behind the woman who claims she's "the future of journalism."

It seems the only group that Arianna hasn't offended with her shameless smears and carnival-like yellow journalism sideshow is transvestite lesbian albino midgets.

Give it time. Arianna's quest to wreck both AOL and HuffPost has barely begun.

Four days ago, on July 28, MarketWatch reported in "Huffington Magic Evaporates" that AOL's stock had hit a 52-week low. This chart from Yahoo!Finance puts AOL's stock price since purchasing HuffPost into context:

So, did a senior AOL executive actually order Arianna to do something to goose HuffPost's traffic, as the headline of this article implies? We have no evidence of it.

But judging by what Arianna decided to make HuffPost's splash headline today (Monday, August 1) --- one of the most consequential days of the year (debt crisis) --- certainly gives indication that someone with pull at AOL might have put a burr under her rather ample, gilded saddle:

SEX ED: Saddled with debt, college students selling themselves to pay loans

If you click that link, you can read the titillating account of how 70 year old men are paying big dollars for sex with 24 year old "college girls" --- who, with all their "education," apparently never heard of "jobs," or other ways to make money, without becoming prostitutes.

Look at Arianna, for example. She just walked away with an estimated $100 million payday from AOL for being the Western world's #1 Internet-based inciter of hate against the U.S. military, Israel and Jews, the Tea Party and conservative individuals and organizations (details here). And if these "college girls" would have asked nicely, perhaps Arianna would have given them $250,000 of company money, like when she chartered a fleet of tour buses to transport people from New York to Washington, DC, for her co-sponsored "Return To Sanity" rally (more here).

But leave it to Arianna to play these "college girls" up as victims.

Weren't there any other titillating stories that Arianna could have posted as splash headlines today, that have at least some relevance to the American people's interests at the moment?

Yes, there were. For example:

Less than 24 hours after government raids left at least 70 people dead and possibly many more, troops backed by tanks renewed their attempt to subdue Hama, a center of the revolt against the Assad family’s rule. One video posted on YouTube purported to show the tanks in the city:

[...] More than 1,600 civilians have been killed in the crackdown on the largely peaceful protests against Assad’s regime since the uprising began in mid-March. But the regime disputes the toll and blames a foreign conspiracy for the unrest, saying religious extremists – not true reform-seekers – are behind it.

But given Arianna's persistent journalistic jihad against Beck, that certainly wasn't worth reporting.

Especially as one of her favorite politicos, Dennis Kucinich --- who also happens to be a HuffPost front-page blogger --- just returned from Syria, where he claimed with a straight face that dear old Basher Assad, Syria's mass-murdering dictator, was getting a bad rap.

Ironically, there is some symmetry to the Kucinich fiasco and the "SEX ED" headline: A few years ago, Kucinich married a woman less than half his age --- she was 27, he was 58. And in further irony, Media Matters rushed to defend the Congressman when Beck pondered whether Kucinich's young bride was under the influence of rophenol when he proposed to her.

That's okay. We can all rest assured that Arianna, who reportedly claims she is "the future of journalism" is doing just fine. After all, she presides over HuffPost -- the #1 most-read blog on Earth, a top-ten U.S. “news” site and “a top-10 current events and global news site” --- and is also now in charge of all of AOL's "content."

What could go wrong?

Apparently someone on the AOL board saw the above and got even more enraged. Poor Arianna.

But at least her actions today did tend to juice traffic: the "SEX ED" screaming headline generated nearly 6,000 comments. And note the even juicer picture, of a sexy, shapely, headless girl sitting on a bed.

How ironic that today, Arianna also unveiled HuffPost Women --- which she billed as "a place where women can come to be informed, inspired, entertained, and celebrated." Uh-huh. Because Arianna would never exploit women for profit, would she?

UPDATE 2, Aug. 1: Another item Arianna that could have trumpeted --- more conservatives vs. liberals in America than at any time since 1994

Hat tip Gateway Pundit: Gallup reports: "Americans’ political ideology at the midyear point of 2011 looks similar to 2009 and 2010, with 41% self-identifying as conservative, 36% as moderate, and 21% as liberal. If this pattern continues, 2011 will be the third straight year that conservatives significantly outnumber moderates — the next largest ideological bloc."

UPDATE AUG. 9, 5:00PM: Market rallies 600 points --- but AOL's stock continues getting hammered, stopping at nearly 50% of its value when it acquired HuffPost. Coincidence?

Uh-oh. This certainly won't make AOL's board or shareholders happy. Despite the market's 600 point rally today, AOL stock went in the opposite direction, losing 20% of its value in one day, finally stopping the slide at $11.19.

Keep in mind that this is nearly a 50% drop from AOL's share value on February 6, when it announced its fateful decision to buy HuffPost, and its stock was at about $21.50.

Do you think the market finally woke up to the fact that Arianna Huffington is one of the world's most pathological liars? Or that the "newspaper" that bears her name is the Western world's #1 Internet-based inciter of hatred against the U.S. military, Israel and Jews, the Tea Party and conservatives.

Asked to comment on why AOL's stock is taking such a galactic hit since bringing her into its corporate family, Arianna responded, "Vell you see, dahlink, you are wrong. If you take your silly little chaht and turn it to ze left ninety dehgreehs, you see zat I have actually added much value to AOL stock! Don't be so schtoopid, dahlink."

Okay, that's not a real quote.

As the #1 most-read blog on Earth, and a top-ten U.S. “news” site --- which repeatedly claims it is a "non-partisan newspaper" --- HuffPost is unquestionably helping to shape public perceptions of important political affairs.

It has now insinuated itself into the debate over raising the U.S. federal debt ceiling.

Judge for yourself whether HuffPost is acting as a nonpartisan broker of accurate information, as it claims (detailed analysis below) --- or whether, as we allege, it is acting as an organ of the Democratic Party's PR machine.

On July 29, HuffPost featured the following headline:

First, note that in the above frame, only liberals are quoted.

Second, did HuffPost come up with the "wasted day" narrative on its own? Nope. It's a talking point that came directly from Obama's mouth.

Here's the headline story from The Hill, published at 6:00am on July 30:

Note that this was18 hours before HuffPost ran with its version of the story (screencap here), at 11:32pm on July 30. And note that HuffPost presented the "wasted day" narrative as its own take on the debate --- not as a quote by Obama.

How do those headlines square with Arianna's repeated claims --- to the public, and her advertisers --- that HuffPost is a "nonpartisan newspaper"?

Throughout the 2008 presidential campaign, HuffPost was accused of being "a conveyor belt for pro-Obama propaganda" --- a charge that the self-proclaimed "nonpartisan" newspaper vehemently denied. Even though HuffPost's CEO at the time, Ken Lerer, reportedly held a fundraiser for Obama in his apartment. While HuffPost repeatedly published demonstrably false, inflammatory "news" stories about Obama's rival candidates, and featuring his ads --- only his ads. We produced a detailed report on all this, here.

It wasn't until three weeks after the election, on November 21, 2008, that Arianna publicly acknowledged --- for the first time --- how close she actually is with Obama:

“I only text (message) three people - my two teenage children and Barack Obama.”

Ah.

Since then, as before November 2008, Arianna has repeatedly denied claims that HuffPost is anything other than an honest, nonpartisan broker of political news and information:

The latest from the #1 most-read blog on Earth, and a top-ten U.S. “news” site --- which repeatedly claims it is a "non-partisan newspaper" ---

On July 28, 2011 Arianna decided to focus HuffPost's front page squarely on the terrorist threat facing America. Not on the actual cause of the overwhelming majority of recent domestic terrorist acts and plots, mind you; that would require the honesty of a serious journalist.

Instead, she devoted HuffPost's blaring headline to the overblown threat of "right-wing" terrorism:

"THE DANGER WITHIN: Analysts Say Right-Wing Extremism Still Poses Threat To U.S."

Did HuffPost's article --- an original piece, written by one of its "reporters," under Arianna's supervision --- happen to mention the actual cause of 80% of domestic terrorist acts and plots?

Nope. From the Investigative Project on Terrorism:

More than 80 percent of all convictions tied to international terrorist groups and homegrown terrorism since 9/11 involve defendants driven by a radical Islamist agenda, a review of Department of Justice statistics shows.
Though Muslims represent about 1 percent of the American population, they constitute defendants in 186 of the 228 cases DOJ lists.

Has HuffPost ever had a headline that addressed those facts? Nope.

But wait, wasn't another radical Islamist arrested yesterday, for an actual terrorist plot, on American soil?

Yes, there was. An American Muslim enlisted in the U.S. Army was arrested for a plot to attack Ft. Hood for the second time... to continue the murder and carnage begun by Al Qaeda-inspired Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Hasan. Again, from the Investigative Project on Terrorism:

[Jason] Abdo allegedly went into the store requesting gunpowder and "reloading options." After asking about 40-caliber ammunition, he bought three boxes of 12-gauge ammunition and a magazine for a pistol. Abdo paid in cash and then left in a cab.

FBI agents searching his hotel room later reportedly found gunpowder, shotgun shells, a pressure cooker, 18 pounds of sugar and ammunition. FBI Special Agent Eric Vasys said that Abdo "had some components which could be considered bomb-making materials." Abdo also purchased an Army uniform with Fort Hood patches from a local surplus store.

CNN reports that "Islamic extremist literature" was found in his backpack.

So did HuffPost carry that story, with anything remotely similar to the breathless, top-line coverage it devoted to the "threat" of "right-wing" terrorism?

Not exactly. Arianna (who reportedly describes herself as "the future of journalism") or her minions positioned the story of the Ft. Hood II arrest mid-way down the front page...

... just below what she/they determined was a story of far greater news value, and global importance:

And as the day wore on, HuffPost kept demoting the Ft. Hood II attack story down its front page, beneath the following "pieces," which it deemed far more important and newsworthy:

By the early hours of July 29, HuffPost moved the story of the near-attack on Ft. Hood to the bottom of its front page (note scroll bar cursor at right):

"Aren't you being a bit hard on Arianna? Wasn't this just a plot in its early stages, and therefore, didn't merit that much attention?"

No, and no. Unlike other stories that HuffPost updates as new details become available, it ignored important new developments, such as these --- which were reported by Fox News and the AP:

An Army private has been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to attack Fort Hood soldiers that authorities suggest was close to being carried out. [...]

Another counterterrorism source said the bomb making materials and methodology came "straight out of Inspire (a terrorist magazine) and an Al Qaeda explosives course manual."

So what would motivate Arianna to so dramatically play up the comparatively non-existent threat of "right-wing" terrorism --- while so egregiously downplaying this impending attack, and the actual cause of 80% of domestic terrorism?

That's a good question. Perhaps someday, someone in a position of influence will ask Arianna to explain herself.

We contend that a number of facts that lead the serious observer to a logical conclusion:

Our deep documentation shows that HuffPost has gone way beyond bias in the way it covers Middle Eastern, Islamic and Jewish affairs, and now has a long, documented track record of acting as a PR shill for militant Islamists.

The number of unique monthly visitors to HuffPost from Muslim-majority nations has doubled between fall 2010 and spring 2011 (it now stands at 700,000). Of these, 256,000 originate in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan.

What is it about HuffPost that would attract nearly 10,000 unique visitors a day from the three primary incubators and exporters of Islamist terror?

Another good question. We contend you can find the answer partly in the "comments" sections of the "news" stories that Arianna publishes --- like here, here, here, here and elsewhere. Should Grover Norquist be murdered?

According to HuffPost's management --- and the radical leftists that it enables, protects and emboldens to post their threats and urgings of violence against political opponents --- the answer is an emphatic "Yes!"

On the morning of Monday, July 25, the organization that Norquist founded and leads, Americans for Tax Reform, notified the Washington, DC police that it received a bomb threat. HuffPost featured the story on its front page, under the headline:

"Americans For Tax Reform Bomb Threat: Grover Norquist Office Evacuated After Bomb Scare"

Beneath the story copy, HuffPost made it clear that not a single user comment would be published without first having been reviewed and approved by one of its moderators. The screencap below shows this statement, and the fact that while HuffPost had approved and published 521 comments, 68 were being reviewed:

And what are the standards against which HuffPost's moderators are supposed to judge whether a "comment" is acceptable or not? Well, its Comment Policy claims:

"(W)e do not allow... speech that advocates or supports hatred or unlawful violence (or) threats of violence or threats to anyone or any group's personal safety... [or] hate speech... or ad hominem attacks of any kind... or speech that is vile... [...]"

Not only is this one of HuffPost's most egregious, long-term lies, as we documented in this special report, in reality, it actually enables and protects the most egregious violators of its policies --- and censors and bans other users who attempt to speak out against them.

Why Hamas loves HuffPost: Marwan Barghouti image-whitewashing edition

For the past two years, we've been documenting in detail how HuffPost (the self-proclaimed "nonpartisan" newspaper) selects and edits "news" stories in ways that could only serve to (a) make Israel and Jews look as bad as possible, often on false grounds, or (b) make Hamas and militant Islamist terror gangs appear humane and benevolent.

What we witnessed and documented today, however, is the single most egregious example of HuffPost's efforts to whitewash the image of an Islamist murderer since this incident, two years ago.

On July 20, 2011 HuffPost published this story near the top of its World page.

Note that HuffPost's headline claims this man in handcuffs is "a leader." Hm. Why would a "leader" be handcuffed? Let's click through to the story page, to learn more, shall we?

From this headline, we learn that the handcuffed man's name is Marwan Barghouti, and he's a Palestinian "leader." But why would he be in handcuffs?

Let's read the copy of the story, which HuffPost claims it obtained from the AP (see credit just below the picture in the screencap above). Here is the copy from HuffPost's version of the story --- in its entirety (emphasis of relevant content added):

RAMALLAH, West Bank -- A prominent jailed Palestinian leader is asking millions to take to the streets in September in a bid for Palestinian statehood. Marwan Barghouti said widespread protests in Palestinian areas and abroad will strengthen support for statehood. Palestinian officials are seeking U.N. recognition in September.
He called for the protests in a letter published Wednesday in Palestinian newspapers. Barghouti, who's 51, is widely admired among Palestinians for leading an armed Palestinian uprising against Israel in the early years of the last decade.

He is serving five life sentences in Israel for his role in the conflict.

Wait just a darned moment. This poor man led "an armed... uprising against Israel"... but he's serving five life sentences, for his role in "the conflict"?

Is that really what happened?

Is that really why he received such a long sentence?

No. And HuffPost knew it, before it published this "story."

The reality is that Marwan Barghouti is a mass-murderer, and a trainer and funder of Islamist terrorism against Jewish civilians, whom Hamas is trying to get released from Israeli prison.

Yet HuffPost made the conscious decision to edit the AP story to ignore all that, and instead, depict him as merely a "leader" in a "conflict."

How do we know all this? Because it's all right in the original AP story that HuffPost accessed, and which newspapers around the world published as-is... but which it decided to chop apart and reword until it served its intended purpose: to whitewash the reality of this monster (er... "leader").

And what is it that Barghouti did? Here's the actual, unedited AP story (courtesy of the Houston Chronicle), which HuffPost decided to slice and dice to serve its purpose. (Note: We've highlighted certain passages to indicate what HuffPost chopped out):

RAMALLAH, West Bank — An imprisoned Palestinian uprising leader held by Israel called Wednesday for "millions" of people to take to the streets in support of a Palestinian independence bid this fall — a scenario that Israeli officials warn could spin into a new wave of violence.

With peace talks stalled since 2008, the Palestinians have said they will instead ask the United Nations to recognize their state during the General Assembly session in September.

In an effort to avert a showdown over the issue, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made his first Arab media appearance to appeal for a return to negotiations. He told Al-Arabiyah TV that he would be willing to travel to Ramallah in the West Bank, if needed, for face-to-face talks.

Netanyahu's interview and the appeal by imprisoned Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti illustrated the wide gap between the positions of the two sides.

Israel wants peace talks but refuses to stop West Bank settlement construction first and makes demands the Palestinians reject — like recognizing Israel as a Jewish state and maintaining an Israeli military presence in the West Bank _while the Palestinians appear to be giving up on negotiations.

Barghouti, the most prominent Palestinian prisoner held by Israel and a potential future presidential candidate, dictated the message to his lawyers during a recent visit to his cell, according to his wife Fadwa. It was published in Palestinian newspapers, and a copy was sent to The Associated Press.

He called on Palestinians in the occupied territories as well as those in other countries to "peacefully march in their millions during the week of voting in the U.N."

Barghouti said the sight of protesters waving the black, red, green and white Palestinian flag worldwide would strengthen the Palestinian cause.

Barghouti, convicted on murder charges in 2002, is serving five life sentences for his role in fatal Palestinian attacks.

Israeli officials say neither Israel nor the Palestinians want renewed violence, but that even one individual — a Palestinian rock thrower or an Israeli soldier who opens fire — could set off an explosion.

Barghouti, 51, was a leader of a Palestinian uprising that began in 2000, during which a wave of suicide bombings rocked Israeli cities and killed more than 1,000 civilians. About 4,000 Palestinians were killed in clashes with Israeli forces during the violence, which lasted several years.

Wow. The actual AP story, before HuffPost mangled it, presents just a bit of a different picture of this "leader," doesn't it?

Before going any further, scroll up and take another look at that headline that HuffPost created --- and the way it chopped up the AP story, omitting these key facts... then ask yourself: Why would HuffPost do that?

Keep that question in mind as you read the rest of this article.

Wasn't there just a bit more detail about this "leader" that HuffPost could have uncovered, had it done some Journalism 101-level research?

Thanks apparently to more than a few calls to the Weight Watchers CEO, we learned via a hat-tip from "silverdog" that HuffPost took away its pro-Islamist-murderer edit of the AP story this afternoon, and replaced it with the actual, unmolested AP story. Hamas is now reportedly furious with Arianna, and is threatening to disqualify her from 2011 "Most Useful Idiot" award competition.

But apparently, HuffPost couldn't resist posting one more lie --- this one, about when it made this change, apparently, thinking no one would notice. We noticed, Arianna.

Below is the screencap of HuffPost's original story page, showing it was posted on July 20 at 7:55am:

Now, take a look at the screencap of HuffPost's "new" version of the story; HuffPost claims it posted the story five hours later, at 12:45pm, also on July 20:

Why is this important? Because apparently, HuffPost was trying to claim to anyone who inquired that, "Oh, we realized our 'mistake' (as if mangling copy to whitewash a mass murderer's image is a 'mistake') and quickly corrected it."

No, you didn't, Arianna. Because our story here wasn't published until 4:46 PST --- four hours after you supposedly published the updated version. The fact is, you didn't swap out these stories until sometime on the afternoon of July 21 --- 24 hours after you claim.

A teachable moment: It's not nice to try to fool HUFF-WATCH, Arianna. Because as you know, you always, always get caught.

Why Hamas loves HuffPost: 2011 Flotilla edition

Background & Summary

In June 2010, HuffPost looked at the reality of what transpired in the "Flotilla of Terror" and published an inflammatory anti-Israel narrative that could have been written by Hamas. It pathologically ignored a growing mountain of evidence that showed its headlines were either false, grossly misleading or incomplete.

For example, when the first Flotilla of Terror was intercepted by the IDF, whose soldiers were ambushed and nearly murdered by those "peace" activists, we documented here, here, here and here how HuffPost systematically published one blaring headline after another that depicted the attackers as the victims, and the victims as the attackers. We further documented how, even after the truth was revealed, HuffPost either ignored it, or continued to accept the Hamas-Flotilla version of events, thus twisting the knife it plunged into Israel's back. This including allowing one of its top "reporters" to claim, in splash headline story, that Israel wants "to exterminate Palestinians... through starvation," and a blogger to compare the militant Islamists aboard the Flotilla to Holocaust survivors.

All these acts and omissions stand in sharp contrast to HuffPost's repeated public claims that it is a "nonpartisan" newspaper, dedicated to "ferreting out the truth, consequences be damned" --- and that it prohibits "inflammatory claims" and conspiracy theories.

Starting in late June 2011, HuffPost decided to continue acting as Hamas's PR spin machine, in regards to the second "Flotilla of Terror."

It did so this time by:

Deliberately manipulating a headline to falsely claim, as fact, that Israel "sabotaged" a ship --- when it knew that there was absolutely no proof to support this allegation (here).

Presenting only the most benevolent pictures and accounts of the Flotilla and its participants, and maintaining the lie that its purpose is to bring "humanitarian aid" to Gaza (see below; even one of the organizers admits this is not its purpose --- yet HuffPost refused to report that).

Refusing to post crucial, readily-available information that revealed the fact that a Hamas operative was coordinating the Flotilla, and that even radical leftist anti-Israel activists and journalists were deciding to no longer participate in it. HuffPost even flatly refused to publish an expose' by the head of one of America's leading Jewish organizations, one of its long-term bloggers, that exposed the reality of the Flotilla, and Hamas. In response, he sent the article and his complaint to a conservative blog.

Choosing instead to devote its front page to publishing obscure "news" stories from around the world, including a "singing penis bug," a French couple who adopted a gorilla that sleeps in their bed, a man who was caught having sex with his dog... etc. HuffPost also chose to publish five stories about Arianna on its front page during the same period.

Reviewing, approving and deciding to publish a torrent of "comments" containing anti-Semitic hate, libels, conspiracy theories and implied threats --- from its users and even Community Moderators --- even though its Comment Policy claims such material is prohibited. Some of the many published comments we document include:

HuffPost's acts and omissions could serve only two complementary purposes: (1) To continue its pathological incitement and tolerance of hatred against Israel and Jews --- thereby catering to the radical leftists, Islamists and cyber-jihadis who flock to the site, and whom it actively enables and protects (see section 6.1 here), and (2) To continue protecting Hamas, and acting as its PR spin machine.

The Flotilla-related "news" stories and pictures that HuffPost decided to publish

On July 1, HuffPost published the following headline at the very top of its World page:

These were the only stories HuffPost published about the Greek boat during this period.

HuffPost published no headline stories about the troubling reality of the Flotilla, and the fact that even activists and reporters began pulling out of participating after discovering that it was being coordinated by a Hamas operative.

As documented below, HuffPost's acts and omissions incited the wrath of the radical leftists and Islamists who flock to the site, an their outpouring of anti-Semitic hate comments and conspiracy theories, which it reviewed, approved and decided to publish.

HuffPost flatly refused to publish an article by long-term blogger David Harris, president of the American Jewish Committee, denouncing Hamas and revealing the reality behind the Flotilla; "It's not for us"

For two years, based on our massive archive of documentation, we have been alleging that Arianna and HuffPost have effectively been acting as Hamas's PR spin machine.

Last week, HuffPost itself proved the accuracy of our allegation, when it flatly refused to publish an article by David Harris. In fact, Harris --- a Democrat and a long-term HuffPost blogger --- was so furious that he emailed the following to the conservative blog Powerline; soon thereafter, it began showing up at numerous conservative websites, starting on June 23:

Nearly two years ago, I was invited by The Huffington Post (HuffPo) to become a blogger on their site. I was honored. It is one of the most heavily trafficked news sites anywhere, and it reaches an influential audience. Since September 2009, I have published nearly 50 articles there, and look forward to publishing many more. This week, for the first time, I was told by HuffPo that an article submitted was “not for us.” It’s below. I ask you to read it and decide for yourself. Apropos, the same article was published on my Jerusalem Post blog earlier this week.

Here is the article Harris wrote. Excerpt:

The International Solidarity Movement, Free Gaza Movement, U.S. Boat to Gaza, and kindred spirits want the world to believe there is a strip of land called Gaza that, left to its own devices, would create the Shangri-La of the Middle East.All its residents want are peace, harmony, coexistence, and tranquility. Some spokesmen acknowledge that Gaza has a governing authority. A very few even mention its name, Hamas, but hasten to add that it was elected democratically, so end of story. The rest don't give it a name, as it might muddy the waters.

According to this narrative - a word particularly popular in Middle East discussions- the residents of Gaza face a neighboring oppressor, Israel, which, for diabolical reasons of its own, wants to inflict maximum harm on people whose only dream in life is to live and let live. For these spokesmen, the wealth of vocabulary in the Oxford English Dictionary fails to capture the true nature of Israel's venality.

Enter, then, the self-described, modern-day Freedom Riders. They're boarding flotilla ships, they suggest, to bring aid, relief, and attention to those trapped in Birmingham, Alabama, circa 1963.

George Orwell, where are you? You could have a field day with this story.

HuffPost rejected Harris's article, presumably because it fell outside its "standards.

Yet as documented in this special report, HuffPost has decided that bloggers who call for the murder of VP Cheney, who are photographed while dressed up as Hitler, standing before an oven, eating burnt Jewish "people cookies," who claim Hitler was more moral than George W. Bush because at least he thought he was doing the right thing by exterminating Jews, are perfectly appropriate to feature --- on the front page.

Here are some of the many stories that documented the disturbing reality about the second "Flotilla of Terror" --- every one of which HuffPost refused to publish

Publishing these stories would have pulled back the veil of lies concerning the Flotilla. We contend this is precisely why HuffPost ignored them.

June 25: "Analysis (by Flotilla organizer): Of course the Flotilla is a political provocation --- not a humanitarian operation"

June 30: "Hamas leader is brain behind Dutch flotilla"

Excerpt: "Hamas leader from Holland Amin Abu Rashid has been seen in recent days training with a Gaza-bound flotilla crew in Greece, according to a report by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf on Thursday. Rashid, described as the "brain" behind the flotilla, helped arrange the purchasing of the Dutch boat expected to be used in the expedition, De Telegraaf reported. Rashid also allegedly organized the majority of the funding for the flotilla, the report said."

July 4: "How the Dutch Gaza Flotilla Backfired Politically: A fascinating tale of contemporary political warfare"

Excerpt: "The Dutch blog KeesjeMaduraatje was one of the first to publish material about extremist elements in the second Gaza flotilla, revealing that Free Gaza Holland’s chairman, Rob Groenhuizen, was a convicted communist extremist who used to be a member of Dutch groups affiliated with the German terrorist Rote Armee Fraktion. Groenhuizen’s group also had ties with the Palestinian terrorist organization PLFP and members participated in a terrorist training camp in Yemen in 1976. In an e-mail exchange, Groenhuizen’s wrote about the second flotilla’s real goal:
'This game about humanitarian aid is part of a tremendous plot — something that Israel tries to postpone as long as possible — but with every uprising in the Arab world and each mistake Israel makes, the end is coming nearer. Everybody knows Israel is not sustainable'."

Why did HuffPost ignore all these articles and many more, that presented the facts? Perhaps one day, someone in a position of influence will ask HuffPost to explain itself, especially considering Arianna's repeated public statements, like these, which have helped her to attract a roster of top-flight advertisers:

So what kinds of "news" did HuffPost publish on its front page, instead of stories that revealed the truth behind the second "Flotilla of Terror" --- and Hamas's organization of it?

Is it really possible that this was an honest mistake by HuffPost's army of "hundreds of editors and reporters"? No. HuffPost scours the world for news it determines should appear on its front page.

As proof, here are some of the stories that HuffPost published on its front page during the same period as it refused to publish all the above articles --- most of which remained posted for at least three days straight:

So what kinds of user comments do you think HuffPost incited through its acts and omissions concerning the second "Flotilla of Terror" --- which it reviewed, approved and decided to publish? Pretty much exactly what you'd expect.

On Thursday, June 30, 2011 HuffPost published the following "news" story near the top of its World page:

So is there any truth to the story? Did Israel really sabotage this boat? What's the proof?

Answers: No, no, and none. How do we know that? And why do we allege HuffPost knew that, before it published the story? Because it's all right there in the story itself.

See if you can find a single shred of evidence, a single scintilla of proof that Israel "sabotaged" this vessel, as that blaring HuffPost headline claims. Here is the entire copy of the article, on the HuffPost story page:

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — An Irish ship on Thursday dropped out of the pro-Palestinian flotilla planning to break Israel's blockade of Gaza, citing sabotage, and a U.S. ship declared it may set sail from a Greek port for Gaza without permission, activists said.

Up to 400 international activists had been due to sail this week to Gaza aboard 10 ships leaving from Greece to protest the naval blockade that Israel imposed on the Palestinian territory after Hamas militants overran it in 2007.

An Israeli raid on a similar flotilla last year killed nine activists on a Turkish ship and each side blamed the other for the violence.

The Irish ship MV Saoirse had to abandon plans to set sail because of what it called Israeli sabotage. Activist Huwaida Arraf told Israel's Army Radio that the ship's engine was damaged while in port and could have lead to deaths on board.

"When the engine was started, it completely bent," Arraf said. "While out at sea, if this would have happened, if it would have bent in this way, the boat would have started taking on water and it could have led to fatalities."

The alleged sabotage occurred at the Turkish coastal town of Gocek where the MV Saoirse has been berthed for the past few weeks, organizers said.

Earlier this week, activists said Israeli agents damaged the propeller of a Swedish ship in the Greek port.
Israel has refused AP requests for comment on the allegations.

U.S. State Department spokesman Mark Toner — asked to comment Thursday on the alleged sabotage — said there was no proof it had taken place due to a lack of "independent confirmation."

Toner, speaking to reporters in Washington, said State Department opinion is "the flotillas are a bad idea," and there're other ways to get this kind of assistance to Gaza.

"Our bottom line is, we don't want to see anyone put at risk. And that would include any action to sabotage these boats but also the boats themselves — the flotillas themselves — will put these individuals at risk."

On Thursday, American activist Ann Wright said Greek authorities were bowing to Israeli pressure and deliberately stalling the departure of 53 passengers and crew — including 11 journalists — aboard a ship named the Audacity of Hope from a port near Athens.

"We're fed up with it already, we've already waited seven days. We were ready to go a week ago," Wright said.

She wouldn't say how long activists would wait for the all-clear before the 33-meter (108-foot) ferry begins its journey. But she said the Greek coast guard would "probably" stop the boat shortly after departing.

Audacity of Hope passenger Alice Walker, author of the acclaimed novel "The Color Purple," on Thursday read to journalists letters and cards that American children are sending to Gaza residents via the ship.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about the flotilla at Thursday evening at a graduation ceremony for new pilots in central Israel, praising the action of Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou.

"Sometimes we are required not only to repel physical attacks by our enemies but also repel the attacks against our right to defend ourselves. In that regard, I want to thank the many world leaders who spoke out and acted lately against the flotilla provocation," he said.

"Israel has the full right to act against attempts to legitimize the smuggling of missiles, rockets and other weapons to the terror enclave of Hamas," he added.

The U.N.'s top human rights official on Thursday welcomed the Israeli government's decision to drop its threat to issue deportation orders against journalists on the flotilla.

"I'm always taking the view that the blockade of Gaza is illegal and must be lifted, since it results in a disproportionate use of force against civilians," U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay told reporters in Geneva.

Do you notice anything missing? Bingo - not a single kernel of proof anywhere that Israel sabotaged this vessel. None. Zero, zip, nada.

So where would HuffPost have gotten the idea that Israel did this? Did other news media play the story that way? Let's take a look, at the original AP feed, and how other news media played the same story.

Perhaps because they are not as interested in "getting beyond facts, and writing a (false) narrative," other news media played the AP story "straight," right down to the headline it supplied:

So why would HuffPost deliberately manipulate the headline of this story, in a way that could only serve to incite hate against Israel, on a false, proof-less basis?

Is it really possible that this was an honest mistake by HuffPost's army of "hundreds of editors and reporters"? No. If this was the first time HuffPost had done something like this, or the second, or the third, or the tenth, or the twentieth... that'd be one thing. But it isn't. This is merely the latest example in HuffPost's pathological incitement of hate against Israel on false and misleading grounds.

As the comments section of its story page shows, HuffPost apparently achieved exactly the outcome it desired: inciting hate-filled reactions from radical leftists and cyber-jihadis against Israel and Jews (better look soon, before HuffPost "sanitizes" the thread after this story comes out).

If you saw the following headline published near the top of one of the world's most-read "news" websites --- which enjoys preferential treatment at White House press conferences, and claims it is nonpartisan --- what would you think?

A "newspaper" that brags about its army of "hundreds of editors and reporters," made possible by the revenue it generates from many of America's most esteemed advertisers?

If you're a reasonable person, you'd probably think there's got to be something to the story, right? Or else, why would it merit precious space in such a highly-touted publication?

Hold that thought ---
we reveal the shocking truth behind this headline at the bottom of the page.

On June 22, 2011 HuffPost published this "news" story near the top of its World page:

So, is there any truth to this headline? Did a Jerusalem court really sentence a dog to death by stoning?

Well, it sure would fit in with the "Jews-as-evil-monsters" narrative that HuffPost's advertisers have been enabling it to broadcast for the past three years. Some examples:

HuffPost publishes anti-Semitic blood libel without any proof; users unleash anti-Semitic hate (HuffPost: "Approved!!!")
At right: The "journalist" who wrote this story admitted --- in the story --- that he had "no idea, no clue" if the blood libel in it was true or not. HuffPost plastered it near the top of its front page, anyway --- then ignored follow-up reports that (a) the accuser retracted the allegation, and (b) physicians proved it was medically impossible.

HuffPost publishes incendiary anti-Semitic libels (again) --- this time, from one of its own "reporters"
Are Israelis really working to "to exterminate Palestinians... through starvation"? Then why did HuffPost allow one of its top "reporters" to allege this --- at the top of its front page? And why is he still on its payroll?

The Stimulus And The (Approved) Response: Anti-Semitism and Israel-Hatred on Huffington Post

Coming back to the "dog-execution" story, if one gets his "news" primarily from HuffPost, thanks to what its advertisers enable it to perpetrate, he or she would probably think:

"Who knows if a Jerusalem court really did this? Thanks to Arianna Huffington, we certainly know that Jews are always perpetrating unspeakable evil!!!"

But for those of us who value accuracy and basic ethical standards in journalism (as Arianna has repeatedly claimed she does, and we should), let's dig just a bit deeper.

Turns out the whole story was a hoax --- and HuffPost knew it, before it decided to publish that inflammatory headline.

How do we know that? Well, when you click on that "news" headline, here's the HuffPost "news" story page that comes up:

So the whole story was a hoax from start to finish --- and HuffPost knew it.

But instead of making that fact the headline (as if this trash deserved a headline?), it threw out this red meat, as if it were a question: as if an actual Jewish court sentenced a dog to be executed --- then matched that inflammatory headline with a picture it searched out and selected of cute puppies, romping and playing. Whoops, except, ddin't Arianna claim that HuffPost "prohibits inflammatory claims"?

Now ask yourself: Is this an honest way of approaching "journalism"?

Or was this merely the latest in HuffPost's advertiser-enabled pathology of throwing out red meat to the anti-Semites and cyber-jihadis that flock to the site, whom it then enables and protects* to vomit up their hate comments? (*See Section 6.1 here)

As shown below, it sure had the intended effect.

So what kinds of user comments do you think this "news" story incited --- and which HuffPost reviewed, approved and decided to publish?

On June 10, 2011, HuffPost once again decided to use photographs and headlines in a way that could only serve to incite hate against Israel --- and evoke sympathy for militant Islamists. And as you'll see, HuffPost got exactly the response that could have been anticipated from the radical leftists and cyber-jihadis who flock to the site.

Haaretz played an AP story of Palestinian rioters pelting the Israeli police with rocks at the Temple Mount "straight," relying on facts and an actual photo of the incident.

At 8:00am EST on June 10 (3:00pm Israel time), Haaretz, the left-leaning Israeli newspaper that HuffPost regularly cites, ran this story by the AP (HuffPost's primary source for news) about Palestinians rioting at the Temple Mount, one of Judaism's holiest sites:

Israel police and Palestinians clash at Temple Mount in Jerusalem; Police use stun grenades to disperse crowd after Palestinians lob stones; order quickly restored, no one injured.
"Police entered a sensitive Jerusalem holy site to disperse Palestinian protesters who were hurling stones on Friday. The scene of Friday's violence was the Old City compound known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary."

Note the fact that Haaretz ran the photo that the AP provided, of Palestinians hurling rocks (see right; those are far bigger than "stones") at Israeli police:

So how did HuffPost decide to play this story? Pretty much as it always does: by depicting Israel's attackers as victims --- and Israel as the aggressor.

Two hours later, at 10:03am EST on June 10, HuffPost published its version of the same AP story. Instead of correctly identifying and depicting the aggressors and the victims in this incident, however, HuffPost chose to:

Word the headline of its version of the story to claim that the Palestinians were merely "protesters":
("Israeli Police Quell Palestinian Protests At Jerusalem Holy Site")
Disregard the AP's photo of the Palestinians throwing rocks
Seek out and employ a picture that is not of this event --- which depicts Palestinians as meek little lambs, praying behind an iron fence, guarded by a lone, beefy Israeli soldier:

Take a closer look at that photo. Does it remind you of anything? Say, Jewish prisoners lined up in neat rows at Buchenwald, perhaps?

Or during roll call, before a lone Nazi guard, at Oranienburg?

So why would HuffPost decide to ignore the actual photo of this event, and instead seek out and use a picture of imprisoned Muslims, in a pose as if they were being forced to bow down and pray to a lone Israeli soldier?

Perhaps someday, someone in a position of influence will ask HuffPost to explain itself --- and how its actions in this story conform to its supposed journalistic standards (below).

On the morning of June 4, 2011, former Sec. of State Lawrence Eagleburger passed away at age 80.

A distinguished lifetime public servant who worked under five presidents, Sec. Eagleburger was the only career foreign service officer to rise to the top position at the State Department. He was a patriot, deeply respected by both Republicans and Democrats. President Obama described him as:

“A statesman who devoted his life to the security of our nation, and to strengthening our ties with allies and partners… [He] helped our nation navigate the pivotal days during the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War.”

HuffPost published the AP story of Sec. Eagleburger's passing on its front page, in the late morning of June 4:

Note that HuffPost didn't even include Sec. Eagleburger's name in the headline, as it does when a leftist public figure dies. Also note how, when the story is an Arianna Huffington puff-piece, HuffPost dedicates three lines to the headline (right). Note also that the photo HuffPost selected of Sec. Eagleburger was of many years ago, when he was significantly overweight --- not one of him in recent years, as shown in the above video appearances. This is consistent with how HuffPost uses pictures to disparage individuals that it views as enemies. (Example: Benjamin Netanyahu)

One might think that given the strong bipartisan respect for Sec. Eaglebuger, HuffPost would try to live up to its claims that it is a "nonpartisan" newspaper --- and take extra care to ensure that the user comments it allowed to be posted do not violate its rules, or basic decency. After all, HuffPost is the #1 most-read blog on Earth and a top-ten U.S. “news” site, whose operations are entirely dependent on revenue from its roster of top-flight advertisers.

Actually, HuffPost claimed there was no chance of comment "accidents." Why? Because HuffPost announced up front that not a single comment would appear on its Eagleburger death thread until and unless it has been reviewed and approved by one of its Moderators:

"Our moderators screen these comments before they are published"

shows that HuffPost had reviewed, approved and decided to publish 22 comments,
and it was reviewing 12 (in "pending"), deciding what to do with them.

And we know for a fact that HuffPost can and does enforce strict prohibitions on certain kinds of comments --- particularly relating to Arianna Huffington herself. For example, in January, after she was kicked off of a plane for refusing to stop using her Blackberry, HuffPost issued an order to all its Moderators to not permit any user comments to appear anywhere on the site that have anything to do with this incident.

Returning now to Sec. Eagleburger's passing, what types of comments do HuffPost's rules say it does not publish? A sampling:

On May 29, 2011 (Memorial Day Sunday), HuffPost decided to launch yet another one of its assaults on Sarah Palin based on false, incendiary allegations.

This time, HuffPost's assault related to the circumstances under which Palin participated in the Rolling Thunder rally.

And as usual, HuffPost disregarded its own rules, and instead chose to enable hatred, death wishes and gutter vulgarity to be posted against Palin and her family, in response to the incitement it provided. Above: As HuffPost's latest assault on Sarah Palin occurred over Memorial Day weekend, and in regards to the U.S. military, it's worth remembering: here she was in Kuwait in 2007, visiting with the U.S. military. Do you know why she's been welcomed at our military installations --- and why our soldiers would be 100% justified in keeping Arianna Huffington "outside the wire"? Read "Commentary" at the end of this article.

(1) HuffPost's primary smear: Its claim that Sarah Palin rode with the Rolling Thunder rally on the back of a motorcycle that had a sign on its windshield that asked, "Miss me?"

This was the splash headline that HuffPost published at 12:15pm on May 29, and left up for most of the rest of the day:

The headline led to this story, produced by HuffPost and its news "partner," the AP, which claimed:

"On the windshield of Palin's bike: a likeness of President George W. Bush. Next to it, the words 'Miss Me?'"

Let's take a look at photos of the windshield of that motorcycle, from different angles:

Click to enlarge these pictures. Do you see "a likeness of President George W. Bush [on the windshield]. Next to it, the words 'MISS ME?''" Neither do we. Because it's not there.

Even if you dislike Sarah Palin, do you really think she'd show up at a Rolling Thunder rally, riding on the back of a Harley with a sign on the front that says, "MISS ME?" (DailyKos, MoveOn, DD, DU and CodePink readers, don't bother responding). Sane people know that the answer is, "Of course not."

(2) HuffPost's second smear: Its claim that the Rolling Thunder organizers' policy was that Palin should not attend their rally --- but that she disregarded their wishes and attended anyway --- when the truth was known more than 24 hours earlier.

In the first version of HuffPost's story, it alleged that Rolling Thunders' organizers told Palin she was not welcome at the rally, and that she should not attend --- but that she did so anyway. That claim led to hundreds of hate-filled comments from HuffPost's moderators and users, such as this one:

Once again Ms. Palin makes herself look the fool that she is. To usurp a function that was not hers, and to try overshadow the agenda of the veterans and use them for her own selfish purposes, was totally inappropriate and unwise. This will further alienate intelligent and decent people.

But is it true? Of course not. Apparently, there was a miscommunication among Rolling Thunder's leadership a few days prior. When Palin expressed interest in attending the rally, its senior leaders formally extended an invitation to her; unfortunately, one of the rally's other principals, unaware of this, was confronted by a reporter, who asked how he felt about Sarah Palin planning on showing up at the rally --- and he reacted angrily.

The truth, however, was being disseminated throughout the blogosphere at 8:15am on May 28 --- more than 24 hours before HuffPost published its inflammatory headline (at 12:15pm on May 29) --- by Rolling Thunder itself, as first reported by Hot Air, a conservative blog to whom its (official) representatives spoke:

The story traveled quickly through the conservative blogs. NewsBusters had a follow-up expose' here. So is it really possible that HuffPost's army of "hundreds of editors and reporters" --- which is able to finds stories like a man marrying his dog in Australia, women with "unibrows" in Tajikistan, and other nonsense from obscure corners of the world --- could have missed the truth? That they just forgot to take a look at the conservative blogs, or call Rolling Thunder's communications director, to find out for themselves what the truth was? That it was all an honest mistake? If you believe that, you'll be interested to know that Arianna Huffington is now selling timeshares ... on Uranus.

To its credit, HuffPost did eventually remove the original allegation from the story. What HuffPost didn't do, however, was issue a correction to the story, to reflect what Rolling Thunder itself said, and what conservative blogs were reporting.

What reason could HuffPost have had do do this, except to keep the smear alive (that Palin basically "crashed" the Rolling Thunder rally, despite organizers' objections) --- and thus, continue allowing its Moderators and users to whip others into the hate-frenzy that erupted on the thread?

Even if you want to give HuffPost the benefit of the doubt, and attribute it to an honest accident or oversight, don't --- because as we show in Section 5, this is not an isolated incident. In fact, this is the second time HuffPost has outright lied about Sarah Palin, and the third time in which it has smeared her in so vile a way that it could only result in whipping radical leftists up into a hate-frenzy, over false allegations against her.

(3) HuffPost confirmed that only comments that it approved would appear on this thread

Right at the top of the Palin - Rolling Thunder story page, HuffPost helpfully reminded us of the fact that not a single comment appears on its threads until and unless it has been reviewed and approved by one of its Moderators:

"Our moderators screen these comments before they are published"

What types of comments does HuffPost say it will not publish? A sampling:

"We do not allow hate speech, nor do we allow speech that advocates or supports hatred... or sexism... or ad hominem attacks of any kind... or speech that is vile... ... or that advocates or supports hatred or unlawful violence (or) threats of violence or threats to anyone or any group's personal safety..."

HuffPost's Moderators are tasked with enforcing its comment policy, and maintaining the "civil commenting environment" that Arianna has repeatedly ~~lied~~ claimed is the core of the site's responsibilities:

"If you're looking for the usual flame-throwing, name-calling, and simplistic attack dog rhetoric ... don't bother coming to the Huffington Post." (5/6/05)

That's just a small sampling. Want more? Take a look at the thread for yourself. We captured more comments that are similar to these, but this will suffice to show the level of depraved hatred and death wishes that HuffPost incited, and enabled to be unleashed against Sarah Palin, over its latest false allegations against her.

Also, note how many Moderators and users have up to or more than 1,000 "fans" --- meaning HuffPost has been enabling them for a very, very long time --- while at the same time, censoring and fast-banning users who attempt to speak out against or complain about them, as documented here, here and here.

(5) Is this the first time HuffPost has outright lied about Sarah Palin, in a way that could only serve to incite radical leftist hate (and death wishes) against her --- which it then violated its own rules, to facilitate?

Nope --- and here's the proof.

Incident 1: HuffPost falsely claimed that Sarah Palin wants those on the No-Fly List to be able to buy guns:

The reality: Sarah Palin never said or even insinuated that. Period.

Why HuffPost knew, or should have known the story was false/misleading: Sarah Palin isn't mentioned once in either the headline or story excerpt (the original story was published by "ThinkProgress," the Soros-funded leftist attack machine).
This false headline incited a torrent of hate-filled user comments against Gov. Palin, which HuffPost reviewed, approved and decided to publish.

Incident 2: HuffPost falsely insinuated that Sarah Palin (and conservatives) incited the shooter in the Tucson massacre in January 2011.

On January 14, 2011, HuffPost began its nonstop coverage of the Gabby Giffords shooting. We documented in extreme detail the lengths to which HuffPost went to construct a false narrative that implicitly blamed Sarah Palin and conservatives for inciting the shooter --- even though the bulk of the evidence that emerged within hours of the event that pointed in the opposite direction.

We further documented the fact that as this evidence became more widely known in the conservative blogosphere, HuffPost redoubled its efforts to keep its readers from becoming aware of it, while continuing to imply that Sarah Palin was somehow responsible. See:

These are just several of dozens of incidents in which HuffPost knowingly published false or egregiously misleading headlines that could only serve to incite hate against Sarah Palin and other conservatives.

Commentary

Why is this all so serious? Because HuffPost is the #1 most-read blog on Earth, a top-ten U.S. “news” site, and has repeatedly claimed to be "nonpartisan" --- a key reason why it has been able to attract advertising from some of the the biggest corporations in the world.

In short, HuffPost is helping to shape public perceptions. And it is deliberately, maliciously creating false, inflammatory perceptions --- and not just about Sarah Palin, or conservatives, or the Tea Party.

Have you ever seen a picture of Arianna Huffington with American soldiers? You haven't, and you probably never will. Why?

Because thanks to HUFF-WATCH, a growing number of our service members have become aware of the fact that HuffPost is now the Western world's largest Internet-based inciter and facilitator of hate against the U.S. military. Specifically, as our extensive documentation shows:

HuffPost regularly publishes inflammatory libels against American soldiers, based on falsehoods and without proof, that serve as exactly the kind of provocation that militant Islamists use to justify attacks on them.

HuffPost routinely fails/refuses to publish the truth behind these libels as it emerges --- even when its "friends," such as Stephen Colbert, rise to defend our soldiers by establishing the truth.

HuffPost pathologically violates its own comment policy to allow cyberjihadis and long-term, protected radical leftists to hurl venomous libels at U.S. soldiers, such as that "they are stupid... mercenaries," and fallen soldiers "got just what they deserved," and similar, and worse.

This is all especially dangerous as HuffPost now has 700,000* unique monthly visitors who originate in Muslim-majority nations --- including 250,000 per month from the world's three primary incubators and exporters of Islamist terror: Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan. (*up from 350,000 six months ago).

So we found it especially ironic that HuffPost would choose to smear Sarah Palin, once again, on Memorial Day weekend, for something she hadn't done, when she --- unlike Arianna Huffington:

(a) Has a son serving in the U.S. military in the Middle East

(b) Has traveled to visit our soldiers in faraway locations, where she has been consistently greeted with respect and appreciation

(c) Has consistently and enthusiastically spoken in support of our soldiers

May 31 update: Arianna Huffington devotes her "Memorial Day" essay to a discussion of herself, and her honorary degree, and nonsense... but without a single word about our soldiers. None.

Arianna's Memorial Day essay has absolutely no reference to our soldiers, no reference to their sacrifices, and no reference to those who've been killed, who've died to to ensure her ability to maliciously libel them as she does. Like the narcissist she is, her essay was focused almost entirely on (surprise!)... Arianna.

ACTION ITEMS

Americans of good will can have honest differences of opinion about Sarah Palin --- just as they do about President Obama. What most Americans find intolerable, however, is (a) outright lying, and (b) inciting hate against others based on false, inflammatory allegations.

If you share our view that HuffPost's actions in regards to this story (and the U.S. military) are outrageous, we urge you to do three things:

(1) Make your voice known to HuffPost's senior management here

(2) Consider writing or calling one or more of HuffPost's top advertisers, to let them know your thoughts on what their ad dollars are enabling --- particularly its incitement of hate against the U.S. military.
An easy way to approach this is to scan our easy-to-use directory and find one or two corporations that you are a customer of, or have stock in. Your concerns will automatically be given considerably more weight. Also, request a follow-up after they've had a chance to review the evidence; don't let them off the hook, or sweep this under the rug.

(3) Forward the link to this story along to friends and journalists who you think might be interested in learning what HuffPost really is, and does.

As you may have heard, MSNBC's radical leftist flame-thrower Ed Schultz has been taken off the air for a week, following his latest vulgar tirade, in which he called conservative radio talk show host Laura Ingraham a "slut."

Schultz later apologized, saying, in part, he used “vile and inappropriate language" --- but said absolutely nothing about his previous obscene, vulgar, threatening rants. After all, they helped elevate him to being a front-page blogger on HuffPost --- why should he?

HuffPost published the story of Schultz's tirade, and his apology, on its front page. In response, as documented in this special report, the only comments that appeared on the thread were those that HuffPost reviewed, approved and decided to publish:

And that's just a sampling. What makes these "comments" all the more significant are the following facts:

The only reason these "comments" appeared is because HuffPost reviewed, approved and decided to publish every one of them.

Note how many of these Moderators have 800 to 1,800 or more "fans," meaning they've been at HuffPost for a very, very long time. Most have 10,000 - 50,000 or more comments in their archives, and many are allowed to essentially "live" on HuffPost 12 or more hours a day, every day. And if you believe this is the first time HuffPost has allowed them to engage in such vile hate speech, you'll be interested to know that Arianna Huffington is now selling timeshares ... on Uranus.

If this is what HuffPost enabled its Moderators to post about Ingraham, imagine what it enabled its users to post about her. Here's a hint: Vulgar, vile descriptions of her body orifices, sexual habits, supposed STDs, etc etc etc. Don't believe it? Take a look at the story thread for yourself (before HuffPost sanitizes it --- then denies it allowed anything vulgar to be posted at all).

There's only one thing that makes all this vile, stomach-wrenching hate possible: the revenue HuffPost receives from the advertisers it has been able to attract, in part based on its repeated ~~lies~~ claims about its supposed prohibition on hate speech. These advertisers include AT&T, IBM, Delta Airlines, CitiBank, Chase, Home Depot, Hyatt and many others.
