HuffPost: Cute puppies more newsworthy than 7 murdered Jews

.

On July 18, the AP reported that a bus carrying Israeli tourists in Bulgaria was bombed, killing seven and injuring thirty.

The story broke at around 6:25 pm. Excerpt:
"We were at the entrance of the bus and in a few seconds we heard a huge boom," said Gal Malka, an Israeli teenager who was slightly wounded. The resort town has become a popular travel destination in recent years for Israelis, particularly for recent high school graduates before they are drafted for mandatory military service.

To its credit, HuffPost decided to run the story, right on its front page...

The fact that HuffPost chose to publish this story on its front page was a pleasant departure from its almost invariable practice of either (a) ignoring stories of Jews who've been targeted, attacked or murdered by militant Islamists, or (b) burying these stories on a secondary page. This is in stark contrast to HuffPost's practice of rushing to the front page stories of Muslims (particularly Palestinians) who claim to have been victimized by Jews, and matching these stories with tear-jerking pictures --- which it never employs to depict Jewish victims. We've documented these HuffPost's practices over and over and over again, over the past four years.

... but HuffPost placed the story near the bottom of its front page, under stories that it decided were far more newsworthy...

...such as
"cute puppies," Lindsey Lohan's boobs, and Taco Bell getting an order wrong.

Yes, really:

Here's proof: A PDF of HuffPost's entire front page, showing its decision to position the bombing story in the "basement" --- beneath nonsense:

The PDF below was taken of HuffPost's front page shortly after it published the story, at 6:30pm on July 18. Click to enlarge, and scroll. Note that the story of the bus bombing is near the bottom.

Contrast this to how HuffPost uses its front page to depict Muslims who are (or claim to have been) harmed by the actions of Jews/Israelis:

This act was no anomaly. The proof shows it was part of HuffPost's continuing pattern of anti-Semitic, pro-Muslim bias.

For the past four years, we at HUFF-WATCH and our friends at HuffPostMonitor have been documenting in expansive detail the fact that despite Arianna Huffington's repeated pronouncements that HuffPost is "non-partisan," it routinely exhibits an egregious, blatant, ghoulish bias against Jews and Israel. A small sampling of the evidence that supports this allegation:

From our archives:

From HuffPostMonitor:

How does what we've documented compare to Arianna's claims that HuffPost is nonpartisan?
“[T]he news is not right-wing news or left-wing news, it's the news. And that will be the sensibility, that will basically permeate our news coverage.”
- Arianna Huffington

“We are aiming to go beyond just facts, to create a narrative. We think bringing journalism to a new level is exactly what people are looking for.”

- Arianna Huffington

"If you're going to produce great journalism, you have to build a team of people who are working together and driving toward the same goals editorially.”
- Arianna Huffington

“[W]e are increasingly seen ... as an Internet newspaper, not positioned ideologically in terms of how we cover the news.”
- Arianna Huffington

ACTION ITEMS

If you believe HuffPost should start living up to its repeated claims of nonpartisanship, particularly in its coverage of Middle East affairs, we urge you to do three things:
(1) Make your voice known to HuffPost's senior management here

(2) Consider writing or calling one or more of HuffPost's top advertisers, to let them know your thoughts on what their ad dollars are enabling.
An easy way to approach this is to scan our easy-to-use directory and find one or two corporations that you are a customer of, or have stock in.
Your concerns will automatically be given considerably more weight. Also, request a follow-up after they've had a chance to review the evidence; don't let them off the hook, or sweep this under the rug.

(3) Forward the link to this story along to others who support Israel and Jews --- particularly journalists!!!
