HuffPost top "news": "'Fat Jew' is a 'F*cking Dick'"

.
On August 19, HuffPost published the following item near the top of its front page - as "news":

Paul Scheer And Rob Huebel Call Out 'F*cking Dick' The Fat Jew

An excerpt from this top-line "news" story:
"He's being a f*cking dick, and he's probably a piece of crap, but it's also on those platforms," Huebel said of The Fat Jew in a Tuesday conversation with HuffPost. [...] "I think the issue that's really bad about it is that [The Fat Jew] is profiting off of it," explained Scheer. "He's not just a thief -- he's actually making money off of people's stuff."
Is it shocking that HuffPost would publish such an inflammatory, anti-Semitic screed on its front page, as "news"?  Which uses the same old meme, that Jews are thieving, greedy, conniving, subversive charlatans?  Not exactly.

This is part of the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel venom that HuffPost has been publishing for at least the past six years, as HUFF-WATCH has been meticulously documenting.  A (small) sampling:
Insofar as HuffPost enabling lunatics to launch such inflammatory ad hominem attacks against anyone else (putting aside the anti-Semitic venom for a moment), it's also worth recalling that when Andrew Breitbart, HuffPost's co-founder, responded in another publication to one of its resident bloggers calling him a racist, Arianna's top minions threw down the hammer, and kicked Andrew off the site.  Their justification:
"Andrew Brietbart’s ad hominem attack on Van Jones in The Daily Caller [...] violates the tenets of debate and civil discourse we have strived for since the day we launched. As a result, we will no longer feature his posts on the front page. [...] (H)e is welcome to continue publishing his work on HuffPost provided it adheres to our editorial guidelines, as the two posts he published on HuffPost did — guidelines that include a strict prohibition on ad hominem attacks..."
And recall one of Arianna's first (of many) lies, regarding HuffPost's commitment to civil discourse:
"If you're looking for the usual flame-throwing, name-calling, and simplistic attack dog rhetoric ... don't bother coming to the Huffington Post."
So why would HuffPost enable, and give top billing to such virulent anti-Semitism, at this moment?

Might it have something to do with the fact that it opened up its first Arabic version, which is being criticized as a "pro-jihad" site?

Who knows.  Maybe someday, some enterprising report from a major news organization will finally ask Arianna about that.  Or perhaps, her bosses at AOL, or Verizon, which just bought both AOL and HuffPost.  Don't hold your breath, though.  HUFF-WATCH has sent every major report produced on this site that exposes HuffPost's endemic anti-Semitic, anti-Israel bias to many major news organizations - and not one has said a peep about any of it.

If you'd like to make your voice known to HuffPost management on this issue, here's info on how to contact them.

HuffPost: Iranian mullah worth quoting in full; Netanyahu... "Bupkis"

.
On March 12, this was HuffPost's splash headline:

Note that HuffPost summarizes the key sentiment expressed by Mohammed Khatamei, the "Supreme Leader"  of the world's #1 largest state sponsor of Islamist terror, without criticism or skepticism of any kind.

Now, contrast this to how HuffPost presented the speech that Benjamin Netanyahu, the leader of the state that Iran has publicly committed to wiping off the face of the Earth, gave to Congress on March 3:

In case you're not familiar with the term "bupkis," it is defined as:

Absolutely nothing; nothing of value, significance, or substance; eg "We searched for hours and found bupkis."
Think about that for  a moment.  HuffPost, the #1 most widely-read online "newspaper" in the world, which has repeatedly claimed it is "nonpartisan," gives the leader of the #1 terror state in the world an unedited platform to assail the Republican Party of America.  Yet that same "nonpartisan" newspaper insults and dismisses, in its entirety, a speech by the leader of the one free, civilized state in the Middle East, to the United States Congress, as.... nothing.

Just another day at the office for the West's #1 largest online enabler of Iranian propaganda, and inciter of hatred against Israel and Jews.  And not a whimper from the "news" media that is supposed to act as a watchdog over such egregious breaches of journalistic standards.

Addendum, 3 hours later

And continuing HuffPost's longstanding pattern of pictorial bias to ensure that Iranian madmen look as benevolent and kindly as possible, and that Prime Minister Netanyahu looks as sinister and evil as possible, shortly after posting the above, it published these contrasting pictures:

First, we have a kindly depiction of Iran's chief mullah, looking very grandfatherly, with open hands, as if to say, "Nukes? What nukes? What are those rotten Zionists talking about now?"

Now, contrast that to this picture it chose to run of Netanyahu - angry, sinister and malevolent:

This is nothing new.  HuffPost has been doing this for more than six years.  Here's a flashback to a side-by-side piece they ran in June 2009:

HuffPost gives murdered Miami, FL rabbi about as much coverage as you'd imagine

.
SEE UPDATE AT END: For indication of how HuffPost treats murderous crimes against Jews in America.. versus Muslim allegations of... outrages.

Early on the morning of July 28, 2014, Congregation Torah Ve’emunah in Miami, FL was defaced with spray-painted swastikas and "HAMAS" signs.  See a local news video report of this hate crime here.

HuffPost gave zero coverage to this story, on that day or since. (Perhaps this omission was due to the fact that anti-Semitic hate crimes such as this are exactly the kind that are incited by HuffPost's chronic incitement of hate against Israel and Jews.)

But HuffPost wasn't ignoring all domestic "news" stories during this period that it deemed we should be very concerned about. For example, on August 9, 2014, HuffPost gave the second day of front-page coverage to a "news" story about some of its female employees who allege (without proof of any kind) that men have spoken to them unkindly while walking on sidewalks:

Twelve days after Congregation
Torah Ve’emunah was vandalized, on August 9, rabbi Joseph Raskin, was shot to death in front of the synagogue.

From a local CBS-TV affiliate:

According to an article in the Miami Herald, the local leader of one prominent national Jewish organization speculated that the synagogue vandalism and this murder are connected:
(A) local Jewish community leader, Brian Siegal, director of the American Jewish Committee’s Miami and Broward Regional Office, said he believes Raksin’s shooting may be connected to the recent act of vandalism at the nearby Torah V’Emunah [...] "Coming so soon and so close to the synagogue that was vandalized last week with swastikas and pro-Hamas graffiti, obviously we’re suspicious that it’s linked, but that remains to be seen.”
..
So how much coverage did HuffPost give to the murder of Rabbi Raskin?

Zero.

Instead, as of 9:00am on August 10 - a full 24 hours after the murder, here is a sampling of the stories that HuffPost judged important enough to be placed on its front page:

.
So what kinds of domestic "news" stories does HuffPost publicize on its front page, in which they sympathize with the victim?

Here's a sampling, over the past several years:

HuffPost gave front-page splash treatment to Michael Moore's allegations that a Palestinian filmmaker was detained for merely a few hours at LAX:

HuffPost gave five days of top coverage to a "homesick American jihadi" - yet ignored the a U.S. military hero who was given the Medal of Honor during the same time period:

How does this all compare to Arianna Huffington's claims that HuffPost is a professional, nonpartisan "newspaper," and better than its competitors?

“We are aiming to go beyond just facts, to create a narrative. We think bringing journalism to a new level is exactly what people are looking for.”
- Arianna Huffington
"If you're going to produce great journalism, you have to build a team of people who are working together and driving toward the same goals editorially.”
- Arianna Huffington
“[T]oo many reporters have forgotten that the highest calling of journalists is to ferret out the truth, consequences be damned."
- Arianna Huffington

====================

UPDATE, Sept. 4, 2014: HuffPost gives front-page coverage to "news" story about a New York Muslim who alleges the NYPD took too long to respond to a crime call.

Well, this "news" story certainly has more merit than that of an American rabbi who was murdered on his way to a synagogue that had just been vandalized with anti-Semitic hate graffiti (according to HuffPost's radical leftist, Islamist-enabling fever swamp):

HuffPost: Jews trying to control the NYT!!! (Silence on Hamas media restrictions)

.
For the duration of Operation Protective Edge, all posts concerning the conflict here at HUFF-WATCH will employ the above sub-banner, to remind readers new and old that the Huffington Post has been reliably turning facts on their heads in order to do Hamas's PR for it.
At 2:00pm on August 1, 2014, HuffPost published this headline on its front page (screencap taken at 10:30pm):

This "news" story was written by HuffPost star "reporter" Michael Calderone (who holds a master's degree in journalism from from NYU).

So does that headline really tell the story - accurately, in context, and with balance?  Of course not.  This is HuffPost.  And as has been documented at Huff-Watch over and over again, its headlines concerning Israel and Jews are primarily designed to do one thing: incite hate against both, while ignoring or whitewashing acts and statements by Hamas, et al, that are 1,000 times worse.

Go through the story, and you will learn that:
  • Israel, like all other countries when in military conflict, sets rules on reporters who are operating in the region.
    .

  • This was a timely request to help save the life of the IDF soldier whom Hamas kidnapped this morning.
    .
  • HuffPost published the following update at 5:55pm - four and a half hours before the screencap above was taken:
UPDATE: 5:55 p.m. -- In a statement emailed to HuffPost, Times international editor Joe Kahn said "we are not submitting NYT articles for prior review by Israeli censors."  "We are aware of a very narrow issue that concerns the censors about the background of the captive solider," said Kahn. "And our reporters in Israel have not reported on that issue. But censors are not reviewing what we publish prior to publication."
Those facts alone would be sufficient to cause any (honest) Journalism 101 professor to flunk Calderone, HuffPost's front-page headline writer, and its editor, who allowed this "story" to be presented as it was.

But wait, it gets worse.

If you only got your news from HuffPost, you would never know the following verifiable, extremely important facts, which would have made this "story" a complete yawner:
  • The fact that Hamas controls all international journalists operating in Gaza.
    .
  • The fact that Hamas prohibits Jewish journalists from reporting in Gaza.
    .
  • The fact that Hamas has been openly intimidating and threatening international journalists to only report what they allow them to, and physically attacking those who dare to deviate.
    .
  • The fact that the Palestinian Authority (in the West Bank - our supposed "peace partner") has routinely intimidated, terrorized and jailed international journalists who dare to report anything that PA "president" Mahmoud Abbas dislikes.
Taking these facts into account, one truth becomes inescapable:
Given the knowledge that HuffPost leadership had in its possession at the time it published this headline, the only possible reason for constructing it as they did, was to advance a classic anti-Semitic libel - that Jews control the media, and manipulate it to serve their own purposes.  And, by omission, this lie is only reinforced by the fact that HuffPost has never published a single story on its front page or World page about how Hamas and the PA treat journalists.
And even four and a half hours after HuffPost was advised by the NY Times itself that this was nothing out of the ordinary, it allowed that inflammatory, dishonest headline to remain posted.  Why would it do that?  To incite and publish the exact kinds of hate-filled user comments that it has thrived on for five years.  A sampling (see many more here):
Kamren Pierce · PBSC, FAU
How many supporters of this campaign support the fact that a foreign country has the ability to instill a gag order on US media outlets?  Does it not bother you that the story that broke the ceasefire is now being monitored by an israeli for approval?
Kelly Lightning · Top Commenter
I thought Israel already writes the NYT's Israel coverage. Every NYT mid-east reporter is a pre-approved Jewish supremacist hack.
Ben Williamson · Top Commenter · Decatur, Alabama
In other words, "We don't want anyone to find this guy walking down the street because they'll know we completely lied about his capture in order to wipe out more Palestinians".
Marty Chambers · Top Commenter
The Israeli military told The New York Times on Friday to withhold publishing additional information about an Israeli soldier reportedly captured by Palestinian militants until it is first reviewed by a censor. Why are we so closely tied to these people? Now they want to censor OUR MEDIA? This is not Russia, we are not in Nazi Germany, we have freedom of the press. Evidently they do not in Israel. And we call them a free society? How can you have a free society if the government censors the media?
Just another day in the life of Hamas's most reliable Western online PR shill, the HuffPost, where truth and facts get turned on their heads in order to whip up hatred against Israel and Jews, on a daily basis.
"If you're going to produce great journalism, you have to build a team of people who are working together and driving toward the same goals editorially.”
--- Arianna Huffington, Advertising Age, April 7, 2011
Will anyone in a position of influence ever hold Arianna Huffington to account for the lies and incitement that are published as "news" in on the site that bears her name, and over which she maintains complete editorial control?  Or the advertisers who make it all possible?

Hamas murders 2 IDF soldiers, kidnaps 1, during "cease-fire"; HuffPost pretends both sides to blame

.
For the duration of Operation Protective Edge, all posts concerning the conflict here at HUFF-WATCH will employ the above sub-banner, to remind readers new and old that the Huffington Post has been reliably turning facts on their heads in order to do Hamas's PR for it.

Lt. Hadar Goldin, 23.
On July 31, it was announced that at 8:00am local time, the IDF and Hamas would begin a cease-fire to enable humanitarian aid to be brought into Gaza, the injured to be evacuated, etc.

On August 1 at 9:30am local time, Hamas terrorists emerged from a terror tunnel, murdered two IDF soldiers and kidnapped a third, Lt. Hadar Goldin, 23.

All of this was confirmed by Israeli and Western media by 8:00am EST (HuffPost's time zone).

Instead of accurately reporting what caused the end of the cease-fire, HuffPost made it appear in a splash headline  (screencap taken at 10:30am EST) that neither side was responsible, and that the cessation of hostilities happened through unknown causes:

Note that HuffPost says only Israel accuses Hamas of violating the cease-fire, and says nothing about the fact that hours earlier:
  • The White House called Hamas's actions a "barbaric" breach of the cease-fire.
  • Qatar and Egypt, which brokered the cease-fire, are infuriated that Hamas's actions have caused their credibility has evaporate.
Update, 2:00pm

HuffPost has now turned the headline imagery for this "news" story into a sympathy plea for Palestinians:

Huffington Post: Hamas's mouthpiece in the USA

.

Special for The Algemeiner

On Monday, November 11, the Huffington Post featured a front-page story, sourced from the Associated Press, about Hamas hiring its first female “spokesperson,” Isra Almodallal, replete with a staged picture of her looking like a teenage U.S. blogger.

In the article, Almodallal voices her support for standard-issue genocidal Hamas threats (that all of Israel should be wiped out, as it sits on Palestinian land), and her belief that Hamas has a bad reputation not because of its terrorism, genocidal threats, or suicide bombings, but because of “unfair Israeli media.” Her new job, she says, is to make the Palestinian issues “more human” to the outside world.
She will be responsible for the Gaza government's communications with the international media.  "We are looking forward to having a different and unique language," said Almodallal in an interview in her Gaza City office, on her first week in the job. "We will make the (Palestinian) issues more human."
Ironically, earlier this year, another pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel propagandist, Ahmed Shihab-Eldin – who happens to be one of the top hosts of HuffPostLive, its video “news” service – described his job in almost identical terms: as being “to humanize” the Palestinians:
“My job... is to humanize my people, my heritage…”

If you define “humanizing” a culture as whitewashing terrorists and publishing false, incendiary propaganda about their victims (namely Jews), as HuffPost has been doing for four years, then HuffPost’s senior management (which repeatedly, falsely claims it is a “nonpartisan” news operation) has been allowing Shihab-Eldin to fulfill his “job,” and then some.  See the following links for more details:
Is HuffPost even more anti-Israel than the Iranian regime is? Yes – and here’s the proof

Perhaps Hamas’ new propagandist spokeswoman should apply for a job with the Huffington Post.  And judging by his actions, we already know that Ahmed Shihab-Eldin is fully capable of taking over for her, in case Hamas’ propaganda begins to suffer.

.
November 14 update: HuffPost spits in the face of another Jew murdered by a Palestinian

On November 13, HuffPost published – deep on a secondary page – an obscurely-titled, sanitized version of the story of the savage murder of 19-year-old Eden Atias by a Palestinian teenager.  As shown in the JPG below, the URL that HuffPost assigned to the piece is “palestinian-teen-kills-israeli-soldier”; it knew full well the details of this brutal attack.  Yet the headline that HuffPost wrote, “IDF Soldier Stabbing Could Impair Peace Talks,” intentionally creates an unclear impression. Does that mean the IDF soldier stabbed someone – or that the IDF soldier was stabbed?  Did anyone die?

Contrast this with the gory, personalized, sympathetic coverage the HuffPost routinely gives to jihadis and Palestinians who meet with bad fates as a result of Hamas or PA terrorism against Jews:

Soon after, as The Algemeiner reported, a Hamas spokesperson issued an official statement by the terror group, celebrating the murder of Eden:
“Hamas welcomes the soldier stabbing in Afula. This is a natural response to the crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinian people and proof of the failure of political negotiations,” a Hamas spokesman said.
HuffPost, however, chose to ignore that story.  Was this decision made because it might clash with the positive image it had given just two days earlier to Hamas's new spokeswoman?

Instead, HuffPost’s editors (including Shihab-Eldin?) decided other “news” stories were far more deserving of top-line coverage – such as a propaganda story about Vladmir Putin, and an assortment of celebrity gossip and various nonsense, such as “the $500 milkshake.”

Apparently, this was the latest effort by HuffPost to “humanize” Palestinians – this time, at the expense of dehumanizing a 19-year-old Jew, whom one of them savagely murdered.

Introduction: HuffPost gives super-coverage to "homesick" jihadi - and continues ignoring victims of jihad

A new report documents the continuing pro-Islamist, anti-Semitic bias at HuffPost, now the world's #1 most-read online "newspaper," which has repeatedly claimed it is not partisan.

The report, "HuffPost gives super-coverage to 'homesick' jihadi - and continues ignoring victims of jihad," utilizes dozens of screencaps and links to numerous supporting articles to reveal the following:

In Part 1:

On February 8, HuffPost published simultaneously on its front page and World page a "news" story about an Islamist terrorist who complains that he's "homesick," in part because his gang's leaders won't let him touch the "war booty" that he captures.  (The story made no mention of the fact that "war booty," to jihadis in general, and his gang in particular, includes the women and girls that they kidnap and sexually terrorize.)  HuffPost kept the story on the front page for two straight days, and on the World page for five.

During the same time period, a U.S. soldier, Sgt. Clinton Romesha, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for distinct heroism in a particularly brutal firefights against jihadis, in which eight of his comrades were killed.  HuffPost did not publish this story on either its front page or World page, then or since.  Instead, it has populated them with "news" stories it considered more deserving of this top-line treatment, including "My boyfriend demands sex and gets violent while asleep” (2 days on front page), “Sole surviving food taster reveals new details about Hitler's diet” (4 days on World page), and "Rhianna stays naked for entire new music video":

HuffPost also published not a single story on its front page or World page regarding another U.S. soldier, Sgt. Dennis Weichert, who sacrificed his life to save a little Afghan girl's.  Instead, it gave top-line treatment to "news" items such as "Six-legged calf is adorable and milking the attention.”

In Part 2:

HuffPost gives sustained, top-line treatment to stories of jihadi terrorists and Palestinian Muslims who are killed or meet misfortune, and almost invariably includes graphic, sympathy-evoking images of the victims and their survivors at funerals or in protest.  In contrast, it routinely downplays --- or ignores --- the Jewish civilians who are targeted and murdered by jihadis.  For example:

  • HuffPost completely ignored the plight of an Israeli couple, Arnold and Frimet Roth, who struggled to prevent one of the jihadis who murdered Malki, their fifteen-year-old daughter (and fourteen others) from being released early from prison.  Instead, it gave top-line treatment to "news" stories including "Man arrested for bestiality claims prostitute transformed into donkey," "Man vows to masturbate in every NYC Starbucks bathroom," and three items featuring Arianna Huffington's face.
  • HuffPost completely ignored the funeral for a seven-year-old French girl, Miriam Monsonego (right), who was brutally murdered by a jihadi as she walked to school.  Instead, it published "news" stories on its front page and World page including "Chinese panda poo tea will sell for $200 a cup," and "Is this the strangest way to have an orgasm?"
  • HuffPost only briefly posted, mid-way down the World page, the story of the Fogel family, who were brutally slaughtered in their West Bank home by jihadis. Even though pictures of the victims were quickly available --- including of the three month old girl, whose throat the jihadis slit --- HuffPost's version of the story only featured one picture: of an IDF Jeep.  HuffPost quickly removed the story, but decided that a "news" story about pictures of "Eva Braun and Adolf Hitler's private moments" deserved seven straight days on its World page.
Some Americans may also be shocked to discover that their tax dollars are being used, albeit indirectly, to enable HuffPost to engage in this bias.

Read the report here.

If you'd like to share your thoughts on this matter, please contact HuffPost's senior management, and/or its advertisers, or post your comment on this page.

Part 2: HuffPost gives super-coverage to "homesick" jihadi - and continues ignoring victims of jihad

Continued from Part 1: HuffPost gives super-coverage to "homesick" jihadi - and continues ignoring victims of jihad

Four examples, from our extensive archives, of how HuffPost (a) gives blaring, graphic, top-line treatment to jihadis and Palestinians who are killed or meet with misfortune, and (b) downplays or ignores the victims and survivors of jihadis' murderous attacks:
(1) HuffPost buried, then quickly removed the story of a seven-year-old girl (right) who was targeted and murdered by a jihadi --- then completely ignored her massively-attended funeral.

(2) HuffPost did not publish a single story on its front page concerning two jihadis' slaughter of the Fogel family – and completely ignored their massively-attended funeral.

(3) HuffPost showed no sympathy whatsoever to the parents of Malki Roth, in their efforts to stop the release of her jihadi murderer.

(4) HuffPost buried the story of Hamas's murder of Yitzhak and Talya Imes deep on the World page --- then completely ignored the funeral for them.

(1) HuffPost buried, then quickly removed the story of a seven-year-old girl who was targeted and murdered by a jihadi --- then completely ignored her massively-attended funeral.

Miriam Monsonego was a bright seven-year-old girl, living in France. Her brother said “she brought much happiness to everyone around her.”  A family friend said,  "It is so hard to talk about this child in the past tense.  Last Saturday night I heard her talking with her grandmother.  It was rare to hear a young girl talk about the spiritual message of the Sabbath so openly and with such confidence."

On March 19, 2012 a jihadi decided to attack the Jewish school that Miriam attended.  He first murdered a father and his two young sons on the street in front of the school.

He then chased and cornered a terrified Miriam in the courtyard, dragged her out by the hair, then put his .45 caliber pistol to her head, and pulled the trigger - but it jammed.  According to an eyewitness, "Calmly, still holding onto Miriam’s hair, he switches guns to another, a 9 mm, puts the barrel to her temple, fires so closely that her skin gets powder-burned."  He then kept firing bullets into her head.

The attack made top headlines in news organizations around the world.

HuffPost, however, buried the story of this jihadi's savage acts near the bottom of the front page --- then removed it less than four hours later (full documentation here).

So what types of "news" stories did HuffPost decide were more important for its global audience to be aware of, which it positioned above the Toulouse massacre?  Here is a sampling:
  • "Chinese panda poo tea will sell for $200 a cup"
  • "Is this the strangest way to have an orgasm?"
  • "George Clooney's first call from jail went to..."
  • "Brooklyn Decker's racy new dress!"
  • "Jessica wears snakeskin to her baby shower"

Curiously, the only close-up of a human face that HuffPost decided to publish on its front page concerning this attack was one of the jihadi, grinning.
See complete documentation of HuffPost's actions in regards to this story at:
"HuffPost buries French Jewish school massacre below junk stories"
Several days later, tens of thousands of mourners attended the funeral held for Miriam.  Numerous major news agencies took dozens of pictures of her wailing mother and sister, amidst an ocean of mourners:

Several sites produced extensive slide shows of the funeral - which HuffPost routinely features whenever a jihadi or Muslim experiences misfortune.

HuffPost did not publish a single news story about the funeral for Miriam --- even though full documentation and pictures were available from the news sources upon which it most often relies - the AP and Reuters. Instead, HuffPost populated its front page with "news" stories it felt were far more important, such as:
  • "Miley's Lingerie"
  • "2nd Grader's Lunch Money Stolen... By A Teacher?"

See the full documentation of this incident at:

"PICTORIAL: HuffPost's anti-Semitic bias against Tolouse murder victims"

How did HuffPost's treatment of Miriam compare to its treatment of Palestinian children who are harmed, unintentionally, during counter-terrorism operations against Hamas?

It is widely known that Hamas surrounds itself with human shields, including women, children and the elderly, behind which it fires its rockets and missiles at Israeli civilians.  In fact, Hamas not only admits doing this, it justifies and glorifies the practice.

In November 2012, after Hamas fired more than 120 missiles into Israel, targeted at civilian areas, the IDF finally responded with surgical strikes against its terrorist leaders, facilities and weapons depots. Tragically, despite the IDF's best efforts, there were civilian casualties in Gaza, including Palestinian children.  As HUFF-WATCH documented (here, here, here), HuffPost effectively acted as a propaganda shill for Hamas during Israel's Operation Pillar of Defense.  (This is nothing new; most recently, we documented how HuffPost completely ignored Hamas's recent open announcement that it has opened child terrorist training academies).

With that in mind, although it completely ignored the funeral for Miriam, on November 15, 2012 HuffPost gave the following top-of-the-front-page treatment to the funeral for a Muslim child who'd been accidentally killed while Israel was conducting anti-terror strikes against Hamas:

As documented below, this was not an isolated incident of bias, but rather, was representative of HuffPost's long-term bias (a) against those who have been murdered by jihadis and their survivors, and in favor of (b) jihadis and the human shields with whom they surround themselves.  This is despite HuffPost's guiding journalistic principle, according to HuffPost's Editor-In-Chief:
“[T]oo many reporters have forgotten that the highest calling of journalists is to ferret out the truth, consequences be damned.”
- Arianna Huffington, July 29, 2008

(2) HuffPost did not publish a single story on its front page concerning two jihadis' slaughter of the Fogel family – and completely ignored their massively-attended funeral

This is (was) the Fogel family.  On March 11, 2011, two Palestinian jihadis broke into the Fogels' home in the West Bank, and stabbed and slashed each one to death – including three-month-old Hadas, as her father tried to protect her.  This slaughter was discovered when the Fogels' twelve-year-old daugther, Tamar, encountered their corpses upon returning home from an evening with friends. (Photos of crime scene in Section 3 here; caution --- extremely graphic.)

HuffPost waited nearly an entire day to post the story of the Fogel family slaughter --- then, only posted it deep on a secondary page, accompanied by a picture of an IDF Jeep.

Instead, HuffPost populated its front page and World page with "news" stories it felt were far more important, such as:
  • "PHOTOS: Eva Braun And Adolf Hitler's Private Moments" (seven days straight)
  • "Swedish Bank Robber Busted By Forgotten Urine"
  • "Teen Arrested On Felony Charge For Death Of Sibling's Hamster"
HuffPost's story page contained no reference to any of the Fogel family members' names, and featured none of their faces – or the graphic crime scene photos.

This stands in stark contrast to the up-close, personalized, graphic and gory coverage that HuffPost provides to Muslims and jihadis who are killed (below).

Within 48 hours, HuffPost removed the story of the Fogel family slaughter.

HuffPost then completely ignored the estimated 20,000 mourners who attended their funeral. Pictures, which were available from major news sources (such as the following, from Getty):

Instead, HuffPost decided that “news” stories such as these were far more worthy to post on its front page and World page:
  • "Monkeys Invent New Fishing Method"
  • Jenny McCarthey's breasts

HuffPost also posted no stories about:
  • The fact that two Palestinian jihadis, cousins Hakem and Amjad Awad, who were arrested and convicted for the Fogel slaughter, not only admitted doing it, but claimed they are “proud” of their actions.
  • The fact that in the days leading up to this slaughter, Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian Authority president (and HuffPost blogger) had been inciting violence against Jews in the West Bank.
  • The fact that official PA TV (which US taxpayers help to fund) broadcast celebrations of the Fogel family slaughter.
  • The fact that Hamas was also celebrating the Fogel family slaughter.

How did HuffPost's treatment of the Fogels compare to its treatment of jihadis and Palestinians who are killed/harmed during counter-terrorism operations?

Contrast HuffPost's treatment of the Fogel family with how it deals with stories of dead and injured jihadis and Palestinians, and for which graphic photos are available.  Note how their names and pictures are used, thus humanizing them, and the graphic, emotion-packed photos - two things that HuffPost does not provide to Jewish victims of jihadis:

Note: At top center, HuffPost claimed that Israel killed a "senior Hamas leader."  In reality, as documented here, HuffPost changed the headline that was provided to it --- and which even Al Jazeera ran "straight" --- that this "victim" was actually Hamas's senior rocket maker (HuffPost knew this was the case, because its own story page revealed this fact).
“We are aiming to go beyond just facts, to create a narrative... [W]e think bringing journalism to a new level is exactly what people are looking for.”

(3) HuffPost showed no sympathy whatsoever to the parents of Malki Roth, in their efforts to stop the release of her jihadi murderer.

Malki Roth, 15, was "absolutely in love with life," says her father, Arnold, an Israeli businessman.  He describes her as "a beautiful, charming, bright, popular, very smiley young woman whose great passion was looking after her youngest sister who is very disabled, suffering from blindness and brain damage. Malki always encouraged people around her to see the special-needs children in their own communities as an opportunity to do good."

As an example of Malki's optimism, read this letter that she wrote to Exceptional Parent magazine, in which she described her relationship with her severely retarded little sister, Haya-Elisheva.  She said to parents of special-needs children, "You are not allowed to lose your hope, because maybe a miracle may happen! DO NOT LOSE HOPE!"

On August 9, 2001 Malki and a friend visited a Sbarro pizzeria in downtown Jerusalem. Soon after they arrived, a Hamas-affiliated female jihadi, Ahlam Tamimi, dropped off a suicide bomber in front of the Sbarro.  He carried a guitar case that contained a bomb, and thousands of screws and nails.   The jihadi detonated the bomb near Malki and her friend, who were instantly killed.

Fifteen people were killed in the massacre, most of them children. 130 others, including patrons and passers-by, were wounded, and one was left in a lifetime vegetative state.

Makli's cell phone, recovered from the Sbarro.  According to her father,
"Its ballistic nylon holder was shredded by the bomb's nails and other shrapnel. On the phone itself, Malki had written: "Assur ledaber lashon harah"; a reminder (in Hebrew) to herself that it is improper to speak ill of other people.
"

Tamimi not only admitted her leading role in Malki's murder, she said she's not sorry at all for what she did, and didn't care that she was sentenced by an Israeli court to sixteen life terms --- because she knew she would be released.  From YNet News:
"I'm not sorry for what I did. I will get out of prison and I refuse to recognize Israel's existence. Discussions will only take place after Israel recognizes that this is Islamic land. Despite the fact that I'm sentenced to 16 life sentences I know that we will become free from Israeli occupation and then I will also be free from the prison."
In another interview, Tamimi threatened to carry out more bombings of civilian targets:
"You know how many casualties there were [in the 2001 attack on the Sbarro pizzeria]. This was made possible by Allah. Do you want me to denounce what I did? That's out of the question. I would do it again today, and in the same manner."
In 2006, Hamas and its apologists began requesting that Israel release Tamimi.  Malki's parents publicly spoke out against any consideration of this request.  "The campaign to free the terrorists also grew in scope and intensity during that period," says Mr. Roth.  "Then in the last stages of the Gilad Shalit deal, our worst fears were realized when we were informed by an official from the Ministry of Justice that Tamimi was indeed on the walk-free list of 1,027 terrorists, most of them murderers."

From October 14-27, 2011 the New York Times, Jerusalem Post, Sun-Sentinel (Ft. Lauderdale) and many other news sources provided coverage to the Roths' fervent efforts to have Tamimi removed from the release list; Arnold Roth even began an online petition drive.

HuffPost did not (and still hasn't) run a single news story about Arnold or Frimet Roth, or their beloved Malki.

Instead, during the pinnacle of Roths' efforts to keep their daughter's murderer behind bars, HuffPost populated its front page and World page with "news" stories it felt were far more important for its global audience to be aware of.  These include:
  • "Man arrested for bestiality claims prostitute transformed into donkey"
  • "Man vows to masturbate in every NYC Starbucks bathroom"
  • Three stories featuring Arianna Huffington's face (not a new practice at HuffPost)

ADDENDUM 1: Malki's murderer was released, became a TV star, and is calling for, celebrating murderous attacks on Jewish civilians: By June 2012, the Roths' predictions had largely come true: Tamimi had effectively become the "Oprah" of the Palestinian territories, given her own Hamas-sponsored TV show, in which she urges others to follow in her murderous footsteps, and openly celebrates new attacks on Jewish civilians. Then, it got worse: Tamimi was allowed to marry another convicted Palestinian murderer, whom Netanyahu also released as part of the Shalit deal.

ADDENDUM 2: HuffPost whitewashed the terrorist who paid the Sbarro bomb-maker. HuffPost not only completely ignored the Roths' plight, it decided to whitewash its profile of Marwan Baghouti, a prominent terrorist who was revealed by evidence in another trial to have paid his cousin, Abdallah, $500 to construct the bomb that blew up the Sbarro restaurant. He even admitted his role in the Sbarro attack, and was convicted in attacks that murdered dozens and injured hundreds of Jewish civilians.  Despite all these facts being public knowledge, in a July 2011 front-page article, HuffPost edited out of its AP source story all references to Barghouti's blood-soaked hands --- and instead depicted him merely as a "jailed leader."  It was only after a number of HUFF-WATCH readers complained to HuffPost that it put up the actual, unmolested AP story. See the details here.

How did HuffPost's treatment of the Roths' plight compare to its treatment of the plights of others who meet misfortune?

Compare HuffPost's treatment of the Roths' plight to the sympathetic, top-line treatment it gave in March 2011 to the daughter of a senior Hamas terrorist whom Israel was suspected of abducting:

Further contrast HuffPost's treatment of the Roths' plight to the obsessive way it dealt with the plight of the punk rock band "Pussy Riot,"
the members of whom were arrested after they stormed a Russian church during mass, and put on a vulgar "act." For months, HuffPost provided up-to-the-minute, breathless coverage of the band members, to the point where on one day alone, as this PDF shows, it had nine references to "Pussy Riot" on the World page alone, at the same time.

(4) HuffPost buried the story of Hamas's murder of Yitzhak and Talya Imes deep on the World page --- then completely ignored the funeral for them.

This is the Imes family: Talia (45); Yitzchak (47); and Hodoya (8; at bottom); other family names unknown.

On August 31, 2010, Yitzchak and Talia were riding in a car with another couple in Hebron, the West Bank, when Hamas-affiliated jihadists ambushed their vehicle, and opened fire on them with automatic weapons. All were instantly killed, including Talia<\, who was nine months pregnant with her seventh child.

Hamas and Palestinians throughout the West Bank broke out in celebrations, handing out candy and cheering the perpetrators.  Hamas openly admitted responsibility for the slaughter:

Hamas military wing spokesman Abu Obeida was among them and told The Associated Press: "The Qassam Brigades announces its full responsibility for the heroic operation in Hebron."
News organizations around the world gave top-line coverage to this slaughter. HuffPost, however, published the story deep on the World page, beneath other "news" items that it decided were far more important --- including:
  • A fawning interview that HuffPost's Middle East blogging correspondent conducted with the head of Hamas, in which she depicted him as "grounded, smart and energetic," and described Hamas as "a resistance group." She even had the audacity to ask him why "does the West not engage directly with Hamas and make you a partner to the solution."
  • "Spain Breaks Up Male Prostitute Gang"
  • "Girl Throws Puppies Into River"
(Note: The following screencap is courtesy of our friends at Huffington Post Monitor)

Although HuffPost briefly moved the story its front page, it removed the story from both pages within hours. Further, HuffPost featured none of the victims' names or pictures (as it does routinely when jihadis and Muslims are killed) in the headline or on the story page.  Instead, it merely posted a picture of the bullet-riddled car (then changed it to the West Bank border wall):

HuffPost did not publish a single picture or account of Palestinian Muslims' celebrations of the Imes' murder:

This stands in stark contrast to the fact that HuffPost jumps at every opportunity to give front page coverage to trivial, false allegations against Jews, such as:
  • That "a pack of Jews" chased Gov. Romney away from a wedding rehearsal. In reality, they were Romney supporters, who asked to take a picture with him; see full documentation here.
HuffPost did, however, review, approve and decide to publish a torrent of user hate comments in support of Hamas, justifying this slaughter, including:
  • "Israel is to blame for this, they are the illegal occupiers" (User "italianwine," whom HuffPost has left active)
  • "Last time I checked, they were invaders." (User "RicNYC," whom HuffPost has left active)

HuffPost also completely ignored the funeral for the Yitzchak and Talia Imes --- and the estimated 20,000 mourners in attendance.  It also ignored the heart-wrenching images of Hodoya, left.

So what kinds of “news” stories did HuffPost decide were far more worthy to post on its front page and World page, than the Imes' murder, and their funeral? Items of clear global importance, such as:
  • "Rare never-seen photos of Hitler" (posted for seven straight days on the World page)
  • "Demi Moore shares bikini pics
  • "Chain-smoking Indonesian baby kicks the habit"

"HuffPost spits in eyes of murdered Israelis (again), shills for Hamas (again); cyber-jihadis unleash hate-fest (HuffPost: "Approved!!!")"

How did HuffPost's treatment of the Imes family compare to its treatment of jihadis and Palestinians who are killed/harmed during counter-terrorism operations?

Compare HuffPost's treatment of the funeral of these four murdered Jewish civilians to the funeral for a Palestinian, Samir Sirhan, who was killed while reportedly being part of a violent mob that was attacking a lone Israeli security guard in the West Bank:

Key questions --- and action items

Why would HuffPost decide to gives blaring, graphic, top-line treatment to Islamist terrorists and Palestinians who are killed or meet with bad fates... and ignore the victims and survivors of jihadis' murderous attacks?

Do not Miriam, Malki, the parents of Hodoya Imes and all the rest of the Jewish children whom jihadis target and murder, deserve equitable treatment from the world's #1 most-read online "newspaper," which has repeatedly claimed to the public, and its advertisers, that it is a professionally-run, nonpartisan outfit?

You can ask HuffPost's senior management those questions, here.
You might also ask HuffPost's advertisers if they're aware of what they are enabling, here.
